In English, life is simple. We use just one word for “the”:

the dog
the dogs

Same word. No stress.

In Italian… things get a little more exciting 😅 There are seven different ways to say “the”.

il · lo · la · l’ · i · gli · le

Don’t panic! Italians aren’t trying to make your life harder. The article changes based on:

1️⃣ Is the word masculine or feminine?
2️⃣ Is it singular or plural?
3️⃣ Does it start with a vowel, Z, or S + consonant?
